C2PC: Content + Calculators + Pedagogy = Comprehension
C2PC Overview
C2PC, using the 2 as a superscript, was the very first calculator workshop that I ever attended. Back in the day, the acronym stood for Computers and Calculators in Pre-Calculus.
Much has changed since that workshop. I can’t even begin to keep up with all the new technologies. But, the fact remains that C2PC week changed my life. Teaching with graphing calculators provided me with:
- an invaluable teaching tool that allowed me to reach students whom I had never reached before,
- an entry ticket into a community of fellow educators who were the best math and science teachers that I had ever met,
- and a renewed interest in professional organizations.
While other pages are dedicated to general information and discussion topics, I would like these pages to be a forum to share ideas for incorporating 8-line viewing screen calculators in middle and high school math classrooms. Even though the sophistication of the technologies has changed, many of strategies and ideas have stood the test of time.

In case you’re wondering, I primarily used Texas Instruments in my teaching. I’ve had considerable experience with TI-83’s, TI-84’s, and TI-73’s; some experience with CAS technology.
If you come across a question while using one of these machines, post away and I’ll do my best to answer it.
